Ingleton, Yorkshire, England
For New Years 2015-16, I spent the week in Ingleton, Yorkshire, with Nicks family. Returning to the same cottage we visited last summer, which is possibly the nicest, cosiest cottage I may ever stay in, I knew we were in for a great week. Spending our time exploring (admittedly not as much as the Summer due to the shitty weather) and eating as much as we possibly could manage, It's safe to say we could've stayed a lot longer. However, we can't indulge all the time can we? It's not called the holiday season for nothing...

Although Ingleton is only a very small village in the middle of practically nowhere, I can guarantee you will never be bored for a second. With such a rich history and the tight-knit coummunity feel, it's the perfect place to get away from the busyness of everyday life and really get back to basics. in the centre of the village is a indoor climbing wall, which for a small fee you can spend practically most of your day there. Aswell as indoor climbing, On the waterfalls trail, there is also an outdoor climbing wall, but you'll need your own equipment for this, so make sure you're with someone who knows what they're doing. If you've read this and decide to spontaneously climb the outdoor wall with no ropes, all I'm saying is I told you so...
Other than the rock climbing side of things, Nearby there is plenty to explore, from caves and potholes, to waterfalls and the three peaks of the Yorkshire Dales, which I completed last year in the Summer, tiring, but great fun! The shops in Ingleton are sparse, but everything you need is there. My favourite store there may be my favourite I've ever visited, the Magpie Fine Dress Agency sells second hand vintage clothing for a fraction of the price of what theyre really worth, apart from a few pieces which due to them being so FABULOUS are pretty pricey. All I'm saying is there's an 80's Moschino coat there that I sadly had to leave behind. I'm now ready for the next visit!

The South Lakes Safari Zoo is a great place near
Ingleton to visit. Boasting Tigers, Lions, Leopards and monkeys (as well as much more) you can spend all day here and it's great fun for all ages. We visited during the Summer months, but during the Winter months, you can visit the park free of charge which is pretty good going, this year you can visit for free until the end of January. It's also a great place for photography, so remember to have your camera at hand!
